What is the difference between chiaroscuro and tenebrism?

Chiaroscuro is a subtle blending of shade either with minute speckling of surface or a smeared blending of pencil tip dust. Chiaroscuro can also be done in ink, a rapido-graph pen is often used because of precision tip. I have seen a crayon used as well as a colored pencil also. “Tenebrism ” is a similar effect but with an ink or pigment that is liquid. The similarity is in the blended effect on surface to illustrate shadow or depth of field. A water color wash where white areas are left in blue wash to be clouds is a rudimentary form of “tenebrism”. Whereas dot pattern photography is a rudimentary form of chiaroscuro, with half tones used to show depth or shadow.
