What is the difference between chartered and scheduled airfare?
Chartered flights typically depart for and return from a particular vacation destination once a week. There are no advance seating assignments, and most charter airlines offer only coach class. One benefit of charter flights is that, while scheduling changes and delays are always a possibility, charters cannot be cancelled the way commercial carriers can be, as they have an obligation to pick up the prior week’s passengers from the destination. Scheduled airfare is flight arrangements through the major airline carriers such as Delta, American, US Air, etc.
