The Standard license of the Character Server is normally used in conjunction with the Character Builder’s External Presentation feature, which includes projects generated by the Dynamic Speech and AIML Character Builder templates. The Character Server is almost always used with server-side text-to-speech engines, which are sold seperately. The Advanced license adds a COM interface with over 45 API callable from ASP, ASP.net, php, C++, and others. The Advanced license is aimed at developers building complete character-based web services. It includes the ability to publish standalone Flash projects, render video streams, record and lipsync audio using the Flash microphone API, and design characters using the Face Design and Photo Fit API.
