There are also lots of body rolls which can be rather complicated for beginners to learn. Salsa is dance which originated in Cuba and there are several different styles. This dance is typically done as a quick-quick slow rhythm. In a 8 count meter, the quick-quick slow would be counted 123(hold four)567(hold eight). Cha Cha is three quick steps and two slower steps on the one beat and two beat. It could be counted 1 2 3 and 4, 5 6 7 and 8 with the “and” being a step.
