What is the difference between Certified Financial Counselor and Certified Financial Planner? How do I know?
Counselor is more like a personal coach who is dealing with people’s financial issues. S/he might help clients with budgeting, control spending, debt consolidation etc. Financial Planner work with clients and look at their entire financial situation, establish financial goals, plan retirement, succession, insurance, estate etc. Keep in mind that there might be organizations out there the provides training/exam for Counselor, the certified Financial Planner is the one that is recognized nationally and regulated by SEC among other regulatory bodies.
