What is the difference between CCA & ACQ?

0

There are currently two types of chemical preservatives used in pressure treated wood. CCA (Chromated Copper Arsenate) was the most common, but it has been phased out for most applications. ACQ (Alkaline Copper Quat) pressure treated wood is the other type of treatment. This treatment method uses different chemicals which many people believe to be safer than CCA treated wood. The two other major manufacturers of wood treatments have also introduced their alternatives to CCA treatments. Osmose has introduced Naturewood or NW100.
