What is the difference between Catholic and Lutheran?

0

The Lutheran church began as a part of the Catholic Church; therefore, many of the teachings are the same. For a student attending Grace, however, the biggest difference is that we do not pray to the saints, the Pope or the Virgin Mary. We believe that prayers can be directly addressed to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We also do not pray or teach the Rosary or say the Hail Mary. We teach various mealtime prayers (Come, Lord Jesus, and O Give Thanks, as well as others) the Lord’s Prayer and the Ten Commandments. Memory work (songs, Bible verses) is expected of all children. Older students will also learn the Apostle’s Creed, the books of the Bible and various sections of Luther’s Small Catechism. For more questions regarding the Lutheran faith, please contact Reverend James Kellerman at. He will do his best to answer your questions clearly and promptly.
