What is the difference between carpooling and vanpooling?
Carpools are groups of two or more people who commute together using a vehicle provided by a person from the group. Vanpools are groups of five to fifteen people who commute together using a vehicle provided by the Michigan Department of Transportation. Vanpools tend to be more formalized than carpool arrangements (a minimum number of commutes per week may be required), but the costs of commuting can be significantly reduced due to the number of people sharing the ride.
