What is the difference between captive bred and wild caught Geckos?
Captive bred geckos are kept and bred in captivity under controlled conditions by breeders. Wild caught geckos are imported from their native habitat. The problems with wild caught geckos is that they are often severely stressed by the process of capture and shipment to their final destinations. They are sometimes weakened by internal parasites which flourish in crowded and stressed geckos. Captive bred geckos help reduce the need to import geckos from the wild which reduces the environmental impact of depleting populations.
