What is the difference between black bird, a crow and a raven? Is there a difference?
They are all members of the Corvidae family, as are Jackdaws & Magpies. Ravens are big, the size of an eagle & have a large black beak with a pronounced “hook”, similar to an eagles beak. Crows are smaller than ravens, about the size of a pigeon, they also have a black beak, but pointed, not hooked, & they tend to be much more talkative than ravens, with the familiar “Caw” sound. Blackbirds are smaller still, about the size of a large starling, they have a yellow beak, the females are brown, & they sing beautifully.
