What is the difference between Best Management Practices and Demand Management Measures?
The Urban Water Management Planning Act identifies sixteen demand-management measures for urban water suppliers to address (Section 10631 (f)). All urban water suppliers have the option of reporting on these measures. These measures are the original sixteen best management practices established in the Urban Water Management Planning Act and the Memorandum of Understanding Regarding Urban Water Conservation in California. Members of the California Urban Water Conservation Council have an alternative to reporting on the sixteen measures. Council members can submit their most recent Best Management Practices Report with their urban water management plan.
