A SRB file can be backedup or replicated in any number of resources. This improves data reliability and data access times. A backup-file is similar to any other replica of SRB file. The only difference comes from the operation used to create this replica. During Backup of a SRB file on a given resource, the system checks if the target resource already has the latest copy of the file (uses the MCAT system metadata about the file). If the resource has the latest copy, no movement of data is made. If not, a new backup copy of the data is created on the specified resource. The advantage of the Backup is that no movement of data is made if the latest copy already exists in the backup-resource. On the other hand, ‘Replication’ of SRB file does not check if such a replica already exists. The System creates a new replica of the file in the specified resource (even if there is another latest copy/replica in the specified target resource). When a SRB File is accessed, the SRB system automaticlal
