Showing autistic traits means a person may have some of the behaviors one sees in an autistic person (ex- lack of eye contact, poor social skills, stereotypical movements, etc.) but does not meet the criteria for diagnosis as set for th in the DSM-IV-TR. PDD-NOS is an official diagnosis on the autism spectrum in the DSM- albeit one surrounded by controversy.
