What is the difference between Assistive Technology and Rehabilitation Technology Services?
Assistive Technology relates to assistive devices or services that are readily available to the consumer “off the shelf.” Rehabilitation Technology Services relates to devices or services requiring significant modifications to meet the particular needs of the consumer, using applied technologies, engineering methodologies or scientific principles. Though Rehabilitation Technology Services may include the use of assistive technology devices and services, if the service involves only assistive technology it should be counted under Assistive Technology, not under Rehabilitation Technology Services.
