Aspen is a light wood, soft in feel and dynamic in color. In board form it is uniquely light, and will create a lovely contrast when used with the darker log form. Blue pine or “beetle kill pine” is generally lodge pole pine, which has a natural grey or blue tint running throughout the veins of the tree. It is darker than aspen and consequently appears more rustic than board aspen. When used in conjunction with aspen log the result is a beautifully dark and gnarled piece of furniture.
