What is the difference between ArcIMS Image Services and ArcIMS Feature Services?
An ArcIMS Image Service is an image that ArcIMS creates each time you request new information (e.g., zoom in). In ArcMap, you can turn on and off ArcIMS Image Service layers. An ArcIMS Feature Service is a bundle of features that ArcIMS streams to a client, for example ArcMap, and allows more client-side processing than with an Image Service. With Feature Services, you can turn on and off layers, create unique value maps, customize map symbology, and change scale dependencies.
