A. There are now two levels to IBMYP at Robbinsdale Middle School: Application MYP and Regular MYP. MYP was originally designed by its parent organization, IBO, as an all-school program. Its mission, elements, methodologies, standards and principles are appropriate and valuable for all students and in most MYP schools worldwide, the program operates across the entire school. Sandburg Middle School made the choice in 1999 to make it a program within the school (what we now call Application MYP). We did this to broaden our population base and give a new option to families who were looking for opportunities for academically motivated students. In 2007, the district received a grant from the state of Minnesota for the purpose of increasing access to its three IB programs: PYP at Lakeview (K-5), MYP at Sandburg (6-8) and Cooper (9-10), and IB Diploma at Cooper (11-12).
