APCL is the Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning. This is learning from previous study eg professional awards, Higher National Diplomas, Foundation Degrees, Open University Courses. APEL is the Assessment of Prior Experiential Learning which learning developed through experience e.g. un/paid work, community activities, leisure pursuits and other learning experiences outside of formal study. APL is the Accreditation of Prior Learning and denotes a combination of both APCL and APEL.
