What is the difference between AP & IB?
Advanced Placement is a curriculum that teaches to a particular test, whereas IB is an approach to a full curriculum that emphasizes international mindedness, critical thinking, and integration of subjects. IB’s philosophy is to test what students do know, not to catch them on things they don’t. AP courses currently in place will coexist with IB and still allow students the opportunity to take either or both of the exams in May. This decision is the student’s, based on what is most advantageous given their college of choice. Most colleges and universities accept IB exam grades in the same way they do AP exams.
