What is the difference between animism and paganism?

I feel that animism and paganism are similar, but in paganism there are specific deities who are generally considered to be all aspects of one goddess. In animism, everything has a spirit and everything connects the One, or All That Is, so there are rock spirits, river spirits, tree spirits, etc. Although I think many pagans believe this also… Both forms of spirituality are free from dogma and ritual (unless you’re Wiccan), in that it is not necessary to worship at specific times in specific ways, and there are no commandments as such. Good question, sorry I don’t really know the answer!
