What is the difference between an SSL certificate and a Wildcard SSL certificate?
An SSL certificate secures a single domain name. A Wildcard SSL certificate secures multiple sub-domains of a domain name. When generating a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) for a Wildcard certificate, please add an asterisk (*) on the left side of the Common Name (e.g., “*.yourpersonaldomainname.com” or “www*.yourpersonaldomainname.com”). This will secure all sub-domains of the Common Name. Note: An SSL certificate only secures the exact fully-qualified domain entered as the Common Name in your certificate signing request. Thus if your certificate secures “www.yourpersonaldomainname.com” it will not secure the domain “yourpersonaldomainname.com.” If you need to secure both domains you must request an SSL certificate for each of them.
A Cheap SSL Certificate secures a Single Domain name while A WildCard SSL Certificates secures multiple sub domains of a domain name.
WildCard SSL Certificate is the comprehensive security solutions of all the sub domains such as secure.yourdomain.com,
www.yourdomain.com,
etc.yourdomain.com,

While SSL Certificate is the comprehensive security for Single Domain Name which secures only “www.hostnames.com”
