What is the difference between an MP4 Player and an MP3 Player?
The real answer is probably different from what popular culture might of set up for it. I don’t know if the “kids” these days are using mp4 player to distinguish between one that plays vides and one that doesn’t (mp3 player). Looking at the other answers thats pretty much what it looks like. Most other sources make that distinction by refering to the one that play video as a PMP (personal media player) or PVP (personal video player). These would be portable players that are capable of playing videos in the mpeg-4 part 14 format (.mp4) along with any other extras that might exist in the specific player like a digital tuner etc. Part of the reason that the tech blogs, magazines, etc. use the PMP or PVP designation over something like MP4 player is because increasingly (in those circles at least) MP4 refers to a Chinese knock off. The reason is that those are the ones that you will most often see in retail refered to as MP4 players (usually with mp4 plastered somewhere on their front). Th
