What is the difference between an MMC card& an SD card?
Multimedia card (MMC) cards and secure digital (SD) cards, two types of flash memory, are similar in appearance because SD card technology was based off MMC. Most devices that use flash memory, such as cameras, are compatible with both types, but SD offers additional advantages.SecuritySD cards, as per their namesake, are more secure. They have a lock tab that MMC cards lack. Putting the tab into the locked position makes the SD card read-only, meaning that no data can be erased from it or overwritten, but data can still be read from it. SD also has digital rights management (DRM) capabilities, meaning licensed content on an SD card can be set to only work while it remains on the card.ConnectionsMMC cards have only seven points of electrical connection. This was increased to nine on SD cards.Transfer RatesSD cards are capable of slightly higher data transfer rates than MMC cards.DevelopersMMC was developed in 1997 by SanDisk and Siemens.
