What is the difference between an IRA Direct Rollover Form and an IRA Transfer Form?
An IRA Direct Rollover Form is used to rollover assets from a qualified retirement plan, such as a 401(k), 403(b) annuity or 403(b)(7) custodial account, into an Ariel IRA Rollover account. Do not use this form if you are transferring a pre-existing IRA to Ariel; instead use an IRA Transfer form. An IRA Transfer Form is used to transfer an existing IRA at another financial institution to an Ariel Investments IRA. Assets may be transferred from another fund family or from within Ariel Investments. If you do not have an existing Ariel Investments IRA, you will also need to complete a Retirement Account Application.
