What is the difference between an interior designer & a decorator?
The terms interior decorating and interior designing are sometimes used interchangeably,,but there is a fine hair line difference between the two. Interior designing, involves manipulating the architectural integrity of a space. Designers incorporate the seven elements of design to create and enhance style: form, mass, shape, line, color, texture and pattern Interior decorating is generally focused on the selection and presentation of interior items within a space, such as furniture, accessories, finishes and room layout. It is the art of decorating a room so that it is attractive, easy to use, and functionals with the existing architecture. The goal of interior decoration is to provide a certain feel for the room; it includes painting walls with color schemes, choosing furniture, fittings, floorplans and providing other decorations for the area such as paintings, sculptures and carpets.
