What is the difference between an I-9 update and an I-9 reverification?
An update is a minor name or address change on an I-9 form, made so that I-9 files match the payroll list. A reverification occurs when an alien, upon accepting employment, has indicated that their employment eligibility is temporary. In this situation it is necessary to ensure that all required extensions of this temporary status have been filed and approved, or that the employee is separated upon termination of the temporary status.
