What is the difference between an EMT and a First Responder?

0

A First Responder is a lower-level BLS provider than an EMT. First Responders are primarily used by smaller, rural or suburban fire departments. Training is provided by the fire departments for their personnel. The First Responder course consists of 40 hours of classroom and practical skills training. First Responders may be 16 years of age with written recommendation from the agency’s Training Officer and county Medical Program Director.
