What is the difference between an eclipse of the moon and a new moon?

0

An eclipse of the moon occurs on a full moon day when the earth is in between the sun and the moon.In this condition, the shadow of the earth falls partially on the moon and a part of the earth’s curvature can be seen on the moon. This is not happening every time the earth is in between the sun and the moon because the plane of orbit of the moon and the plane of orbit of the earth are different. A new moon occurs when the the moon is in between the sun and the earth in which case we see only the unlit face of the moon.So it is dark.Solar eclipse occurs on a new moon day and why it is not happening every time these are in the above order is due to the same reason explained above.
