What is the difference between an e-ticket and a paper ticket?
E-tickets are not really tickets at all, but rather they are reservation confirmations for air travel. To get a boarding pass on the day of your flight, you simply need to present a photo ID at the airport. It is recommended, however, that you carry your travel agency invoice or itinerary with you to avoid possible delays in airport security. Paper tickets are reservations that have been printed out on certified ticket stock. You will still need to present your ID at the airport, along with the paper ticket, to get your boarding pass. E-tickets are especially convenient if you are traveling within the United States. You do not have to worry about your tickets being lost or stolen, and you do not have to pick up your tickets at the travel agency. Your confirmation can be e-mailed or faxed directly to you. It is recommended that you get paper tickets if you travel internationally or if there is an imminent possibility of an airline strike. Back to top Am I mandated to use e-tickets? Gene
