What is the difference between an authorization and a charge on my credit card?
Credit card transactions involve two separate steps – authorization and settlement. At Social Gold, we first authorize the credit card, to check its validity and to insure the required funds are available. After an order is completed and sufficient time has elapsed for the in-game currency to be posted in your game, we settle with the issuing bank. Settlement occurs 24 to 48 hours later. For the first 24 to 48 hours, cardholders will see the description JBL*SOCIALGOLD.NET. This specific description always indicates the charge has only been authorized by the bank. At this point, the amount of money equal to the purchase price is no longer available to you but is still in your account. After settlement occurs, cardholders will see JBL*SOCIALGOLD or a variation of that description for the charged amount. Any variation will always begin with JBL*.
