What is the difference between an Archdiocesan school and an independent school?
Archdiocesan schools receive some financial support from the Archdiocese and must follow the regulations set forth by the Archdiocese. Each parish in the Archdiocese of Atlanta is required to give a certain percentage of its revenue to support all of these schools regardless of their proximity to the parish, yet less than 10 percent of the Catholic children in Pre-K through high school attend these schools. An independent school receives no funds from the Archdiocese and has the freedom to make choices based on the needs and desires of its population rather than follow a general model designed to serve a broadly defined demographic base. We remain open to the possibility of working with the local parishes and the Archdiocese of Atlanta to continue to provide an affordable Catholic education to the families in West Georgia.
