What is the difference between an Alt 1, Alt 2 and Alt 3 Application?

An Alteration type 1 application is filed for a change in the use, occupancy, or egress of a space. This application will generate the necessity of a new Certificate of Occupancy(C of O). An alteration type 2 application/Dir. 14, is filed for minor work which will not require a C of O change. Your architect/PE can perform the final inspection (except plumbing) and sign off the application themselves. An alteration type 3 application/Dir 14, is for minor work with only 1 work type, ie. Curb curt, or partitions (no plumbing).
