What is the difference between amp and voltage?
What is the difference between strength and speed? It’s kind of the same question. Amperes (amps) measure the rate at which electric charge moves through a conductor. Voltage is a measure of something called electromotive force. It’s the push that makes the electric charge move. Back in the 19th century a guy named Georg Ohm discovered that there is a linear relationship between the amount of current that flows in a metallic conductor, and the voltage (as measured from one end of the conductor to the other) that pushes it. The constant of proportionality is called the resistance of the conductor, and we measure it in Ohms. The modern formula that relates Volts Amps and Ohms in a conductor is called Ohm’s Law.
