What is the difference between aluminium and fibreglass?
Fibreglass flagpoles have an outer gel coat and layers of glass fibre to build the thickness of the flagpole. The high white finish of a fibreglass flagpole is built into the gel coat and will not scratch off or peel away over time. Aluminium flagpoles unless specified are finished to a satin brushed exterior surface which will over time oxidise. The flagpole can also be anodised a silver satin finish or powder coated to avoid discolouration. Unlike fibreglass, aluminium will conduct electricity and earthing a flagpole made from aluminium is strongly recommended.
