What is the difference between alpha and beta hydroxy acids?
A lpha and beta hydroxy acids are very different from each other in structure, and therefore have different effects upon the skin. Alpha hydroxy acids, such as the lactic and glycolic acids are more effective as exfoliating agents. A beta hydroxy acid, such as salicylic acid, is as an effective acne medication.
