AKC as you know is the most coveted registry that holds all the major dog shows and such. But remember just because a dog is AKC registered doesn’t mean it should be bred or is superior over any other purebred dog. APRI is a registry that just lets you know that your dog is purebred. That’s it. The dog cannot be shown within the AKC unless the dog has proven AKC linage in it’s pedigree that is researched through the AKC. Many people say that APRI is a registry for puppy mills, commercial breeders, hobby breeders, and back yard breeders. In order to make your APRI dog become AKC registered. Simply mail in a copy of your dogs APRI pedigree along with a copy of the APRI registration certificate to the AKC and they will research your dogs pedigree free of charge and will let you know if your APRI dog qualifies for AKC registration.
