What is the difference between ADHD and ADD?
ADD (attention deficit Disorder) is the old name for ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). So basically the term ADD no longer exists in medicine and science although a lot of people still use it, it isnt used by doctors anymore. In the 1980’s this condition was called Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and there were two types. They included ADD with hyperactivity and ADD without hyperactivity. Those who had ADD with hyperactivity suffered from problems of attention and learning as well as hyperactivity and behaviour and self control. While those with ADD without hyperactivity had just the attention and learning problems. In the 1990’s the term was changed to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ADHD. And again there are different types. There is ADHD predominatly innatentive type (which used to be ADD without hyperactivity) and there is ADHD predominatly hyperactive/impulse type and combined type (both of wich used to be ADD with hyperactivity).
