What is the difference between “accreditation” and “APS College course approval”?
Accreditation refers to the process of assessment to determine if a course (and the institution which offers it) meets the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) Accreditation Standards for Psychology Courses. Courses which do not achieve APAC accreditation cannot be approved by the Psychology Board of Australia as suitable training and preparation for registration as a psychologist, nor are they recognised by the Australian Psychological Society as suitable for membership of that Society. All courses accredited by APAC are listed on this website. APS College course approval refers to the process of assessment to determine if a course meets the Australian Psychological Society’s College Course Approval Guidelines. Although APS College course approval is assessed at the same time as APAC accreditation, it is a separate process undertaken by APS College representatives.
