What is the difference between absentee ballots/voting and early voting?

0

Before this year, the only way you could vote prior to election day was to qualify for an absentee ballot. To obtain an absentee ballot you had to claim that you would be out of town on election day. For early voting anyone who is registered can vote at an early voting location for any reason. Unlike absentee ballots, everyone who is registered to vote is eligible for early voting.
