What is the difference between a Work Permit issued through the WHP and any other type of Work Permit?
The Work Permit you receive through the WHP is an “open” work permit, meaning that you do not need a prior job offer from a Canadian employer in order to apply. To apply for other work permits you need to secure an offer of employment in Canada, and in most cases the Canadian employer will have to contact Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC) for a Labour Market Opinion. Further information is available through the Consulate General of Canada in Sydney, which is our regional visa/immigration office. Please visit their website: http://www.australia.gc.ca.
