What is the difference between a wall hung closet and a floor based one?

Essentially a wall hung (European style) unit uses a high tech bracket system to suspend the shelving system roughly 12″ off the floor. A floor based system is built from the floor up and sets directly on the hardwood or carpeted floor. Rocky Mountain Closets Inc. can provide either system or a combination of both. However, unless you will be storing heavy objects such as books on the shelving or wish to have a large heavy bank of drawers, we recommend installing a wall hung unit. Generally they cost anywhere from 20-35% less because they use less overall material and basically create less clutter within the space. Additionally, with a wall hung system there are no issues with vacuuming or the exchanging of flooring material at a later date.
