What is the difference between a TLA and a Letter of Permission?
A.Under the Ontario College of Teachers Act, the College Registrar may grant a TLA to a board to assign teachers to subjects/areas for which they do not hold the qualifications as required by the regulations. Under the Education Act, the Minister of Education may grant a Letter of Permission to boards to employ individuals as teachers who do not hold certification as a teacher in Ontario.
