A timer system is less expensive and requires you to set a simple timer to control how often the system “backwashes” or regenerates. Because soft water is unavailable when backwashing for a few hours, it is best to have this done when you are asleep or away. A meter automatically keeps track of your usage and sets up a regeneration sequence based on your usage. We design and provide metered systems for softeners and timer systems for auto-backwashing filters. It is unadvisable to meter a water filter system due to the very real possibility of “water channeling” in the media bed, rendering it ineffective.
