What is the difference between a synchronous course and an asynchronous course?
A synchronous course requires that you attend class at a set time on a set day. Often times this is to listen to a lecture or to have a meeting with an instructor or other students in class. An asynchronous class does not require students to be in attendance during a set time. In an asynchronous environment, there are set assignments, required participation, and even due dates for assignments to help keep you structured, but when you log into class is completely up to you. You can do all of your work in the morning, at night or any other time you choose, as long as you finish your assignments by the due date. Most of the coursework is designed to be asynchronous. However some asynchronous class time will be required for this program. Please check your course syllabus for specific course requirements.
