What is the difference between a Standardbred and a Thoroughbred?

They’re two totally different breeds. I have NO idea what the first person is talking about. He’s so far off. They’re both raced, but Standardbreds are harness-raced at either a trot or a pace and Thoroughbreds are raced under saddle at a gallop. Thoroughbreds were used to create the Standardbred breed. They crossed the Narragansett Pacer, the Canadian Pacer, and the Norfolk Trotter with Thoroughbreds to create extremely fast trotting and pacing horses. Standardbreds are a little stockier and more muscled than Thoroughbreds.
