What is the difference between a sprain break and fracture in a wrist?
Coming from someone who has had a fractured wrist: you will KNOW when it’s fractured because you won’t be able to move it without horrible, horrible pain. It will turn purple and get hugely swollen, and you will know that you need to go to the doctor right away. If it’s that bad, don’t even try to just sit around and ice it; get it checked out. A wrist fracture requires surgery a great amount of the time to fix. I fractured my wrist in three places last September. I had to have a pin put in to hold a bone together. Believe it or not, it’s now Feb. and it’s still not back to normal. I also had to have hand therapy for two months after the surgery. It takes a minimum of 6 weeks to heal but that usually isn’t the norm unless it’s not a bad break.
