What is the difference between a spinning, drag, bait-casting, drag, fishing reel?

A spinning reel was developed by swiss clockmakers I believe and were geared so that one rotation of the handle would turn the spool more than 1 rotation allowing you to bring in line faster. These come in 2 varieties and are open faced and close faced. A open faced reel is trickier but I prefer it’s control. A closed face is good for a beginner and a brand named Zebco can be found for a minimal amount of $10. A bait-casting reel requires a bit of practice and your thumb is used as a drag to keep backlash from happening. These are normally the step up model from spinning reels as you can see most professional bass fishermen use them. I’m not that knowledgeable with drag reels but I believe they are used more for large fish such as ocean fishing or lakes.
