What is the difference between a Specialised Tourist Guide and the existing Tourist Guide?

A STG can only provide guiding services in the specialised field which he/she is licensed (eg. nature tour or heritage tour). He/She will have expert knowledge in the field or has professional qualifications and practical working experience related to the subject. These STGs will be able to excite tourists and locals with a wider range of niche tourism products, offering new perspectives and professional insights into Singapore. The STGs are not allowed to perform other tourist guide duties eg. airport/hotel transfers, guiding in other fields and conducting other tours. Should the STGs want to perform other tourist guide duties, they have to sit for a Tourist Guide Examination in order to obtain a Tourist Guide licence.
