What is the difference between a road bike and a triathlon bike?
Triathlon bikes place a greater emphasis on aerodynamics because you are not allowed to draft other cyclists while racing. For this reason, tri bikes have aero bars that stick straight out in front of the bike. They are also more likely to have aero-shaped tubes rather than round tubes. The geometry of the bikes is also different, with a tri bike having a more upright, or vertical, seat post. This forward position changes the muscles you use while biking so that your legs feel fresher when you get off the bike to run. Both road bikes and tri bikes cover a wide spectrum of prices, from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars depending on the quality and characteristics of the materials and parts.
