What is the difference between a Psychological and Psychiatric Evaluation?
Psychological Evaluations consist of a series of batteries/tests to assist in the determination of the formal diagnosis. A clients IQ, school achievement level, emotional and mental functioning is evaluated. Recommendations are made for additional support or services to enhance emotional and mental functioning. Psychiatric Evaluations are conducted by a Licensed Medical Doctor who specializes in psychiatric treatment. Medications are prescribed from this evaluation, if needed, by the Psychiatrist. Recommendations are given as part of the medical plan of care to achieve stability.
